The programme runs for 2 weeks from Monday - Friday from 10 am - 3.30pm and the centre provides a complimentary lunch for the participant on the last Friday of the programme. Individual needs are catered for via personal assessments in Maths, English and Information Technology. The age groups catered for are 18-24 year olds and 25+. During the first week an Essential skills tutor will carry out a personal assessment and the participant will have a chance to talk about what he\ she wants to do in the future. Visitors will come in from local organisations to advise with this process. As well as this the opportunity will be given to explore " CASCAiD" a personal computer programme to match an individuals personal skills with a specific job. During the second week of the Core Gateway programme the participant is offered a full Job search programme ; this includes online jobsearch, access to newspapers and telephones. The programme also provides training in: C.V Preparation Completion of Application forms Letter Writing Interview Techniques Towards the end of the programme the participant will have the chance to experience a "Job taster day" basically this involves him/her going to a genuine place of work and seeing what is involved. All travel costs will be covered for participants on this programme.
